Steam trip Surselva Rhaetian Railway from Landquart or Disentis

From Landquart, the steam train takes you through the monumental Rhine Gorge between Reichenau and Ilanz, the first town on the Rhine. The journey then continues past Conn and via Trun in the direction of Disentis/Mustér. There you will have a two-hour stopover where you can stretch your legs and explore the village of Disentis.

In the afternoon the historic train will start its return journey. On this trip with the steam train, one great experience follows the other! You have the option to travel both routes or only one.

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the steam age and let yourself be enchanted by the nostalgia, the shining metal of the locomotive, the unique smell and the fascinating play of the mechanics.

Practical information:

• In case of special weather conditions, the organizer takes the liberty to run steam trains electrically (Ge 6/6I, Crocodile locomotive)
• Bringing dogs is not recommended due to limited space
• Take-away drinks and snacks are available in the middle of the train
• Steam rides will only take place if there are enough participants. Please check online or call 1600 starting 5 days before the date of the trip to find out if it will take place

The region around Disentis is known for its impressive mineral deposits. Unfortunately, the time of your stay is not quite enough to go in search of crystals yourself. But there are a lot of great things to learn about minerals in the Engadin at the Museum Cristallina in Disentis. Here you will find in many showcases a wonderful collection of unique and precious crystals that sparkle almost as much as the steam locomotive you came with.
