Swiss Activity Tip
If the Bernina Express panoramic train isn't available on your preferred date, you can alternatively travel with the regular Rhaetian Railway trains. They run hourly on the exact same route as the Bernina Express. You don’t need a seat reservation, only a valid ticket for the route. The Swiss Travel Pass, GA, all day tickets for public transport, the community day ticket, Interrail, and Eurail are valid on this route.
Traveling with a wheelchair
- RhB trains and buses increasingly feature low-floor entrances (marked as LF in the timetable).
- The SBB Handicap Call Centre coordinates assistance for RhB passengers during transfers, especially where platforms haven't yet been raised or floors matched. It helps you plan barrier-free travel and offers support if you need help while on the move.
Traveling with Your Dog
- Bringing small dogs up to 30 cm is free, provided they stay in a carrier the entire time. This carrier must fit under your seat.
- Dogs without a carrier and all dogs 30 cm or taller at the shoulder require a valid dog ticket: half the price of 2nd class or the minimum fare (day pass for dogs, dog passport). They must stay under the seat so they don’t block the aisle for other passengers.

The landscape is astonishing. I must admit that I had never seen so many beautifil lakes, rivers and mountains. But, the panoramic wagon was TERRIBLE. It was so hot (we caught it at 4:06 pm) that people were feeling so bad. After 30 minutes, finally a crew member appeared and I questioned her about the hot inside the wagon. I was really frustrated about the answer: "Sir, the air conditioner within Swiss are just like this." I really hope that the Company review it and try to give a better service.
