What it's about
The two ‘musical brothers’ Axel Wolf and Hugo Siegmeth combine early classical music with jazz in their programme «Flow - Jazz and Renaissance». They dedicate themselves, among others, to works by Claudio Monteverdi, George Gershwin, John Dowland and Miles Davis. The styles meet here with intensity and freedom. Without any inhibitions, Hugo Siegmeth and Axel Wolf create small masterworks – timeless music from singing wood. At times the tenor saxophone brings tears, accompanied by a theorbo that almost resembles a folk guitar; at others the strings of this lute sing the beauty of the famous «Girl from Ipanema» – the lute’s chords wrap the girl in a Baroque gown, while the woody, rounded tones of the bass clarinet make her float like a fairy. Both Hugo Siegmeth and Axel Wolf are very active in many fields, are internationally sought-after musicians and have already received several valuable awards.
