The Winterthur Christmas market runs from 26 November to 23 December 2026 on Neumarkt in the car-free old town, five minutes' walk from the station. The roughly 60 wooden huts are open daily from 11:00, Mon–Thu until 20:00, Fri/Sat until 20:30 and Sun until 19:00. The market is a member of the association of excellent Christmas markets (EECMA). The winter market under a canopy of lights on Teuchelweiherplatz opens as early as 18 November, on weekdays from 16:00.

Winterthurer Weihnachtsmarkt
Neumarkt (car-free old town) · since 1997 · around 60 wooden huts
Around 60 decorated wooden huts stand on Neumarkt, and around 80% of them sell Christmas decorations, candles, crafts, textiles or scents, the rest food and mulled wine. Children visit the Märliwald with its animated fairy tales, and the Christmas stage has a free programme every day.

Winterthurer Wintermarkt
Teuchelweiherplatz · over 50 huts
Under a canopy of lights powered by solar electricity stand over 50 huts with food from near and far, design and crafts. A table can be reserved in the fondue chalet with its fireplace, and the Slalom Bar is open until midnight Thu–Sat. On a few weekend days until early December a mini market with small vendors from the region adds to the offering.

On the last day the Christmas market on Neumarkt closes as early as 19:00.
Free gift wrapping
In the Päcklihuus of the Junge Altstadt, gifts are wrapped free of charge, including ones from other Winterthur shops.
Winter market cashless only
The chalets, bars and food stalls of the winter market do not accept cash. It does not open until 16:00 Mon–Fri.
Without a car
It is 5 minutes' walk from Winterthur station to Neumarkt, and about 15 minutes to Teuchelweiherplatz or by bus to «Technikum».
How to get there
- About 5 minutes' walk from Winterthur station into the car-free old town to Neumarkt.
- About 15 minutes' walk (just over 1 km) from Winterthur station to Teuchelweiherplatz; according to the ZVV, by bus to «Winterthur, Technikum», then about 5 minutes on foot. The Teuchelweiher car park is under the square.
