Locarno and Ascona are located east and west of the Maggia Delta. Here the river Maggia flows into Lake Maggiore. Locarno has a pretty cactus garden planted near the lakeshore. A pleasant lakeside promenade connects Tenero with Locarno. The path leads you right through the village center of Rivapiana. Its ancient fishermen's houses are worth seeing, as well as the huge camellia park, which is in bloom in spring. Ascona with its pretty beach cafes is also called the "Pearl of Lake Maggiore".
