Description

From Grindelwald, take the Eiger Express cable car to Eigergletscher station. The modern cable car, which opened in 2020, takes you there in just 15 minutes. Along the way, enjoy magnificent views of the mighty, 1,800-metre-high north face of the Eiger. At Eigergletscher, change to the cogwheel railway and travel through the Eiger and Mönch massif to Jungfraujoch. There is a short stop at Eismeer station, where you can admire and photograph the impressive glacier through a large panoramic window.

Practical information

  • Dogs need their own ticket for the return journey between Eigergletscher and Jungfraujoch

Travelling with a wheelchair or pushchair

  • Jungfraujoch is accessible with pushchairs and wheelchairs. The entrance to the Ice Palace has a stairlift for wheelchair users.

  • Groups of 3 or more wheelchair users should inform staff at the ticket office at their departure station about their trip. This means any assistance they may need can be arranged.

SwissActivities tip

Between March and October, a hike of around 45 minutes takes you across the glacier from Jungfraujoch to Mönchsjoch Hut, at 3,657 m above sea level. The route is well signposted and prepared. This easy hike is also suitable for children. Wear good shoes and you’ll be all set for your excursion into the Swiss mountains.

Too expensive

Unforgettable. Before this, only hardened climbers got to be in this environment. Worth every penny. Be aware that your booking times are for the train, not the cable car, so add 15 minutes.

The weather was perfect and everything was very well laid out to do in your own time. I would only recommend stating clearly that the chosen departure time is for the train, not the gondola.

Top of Europe lives up to everything. The Jungfrau Railways and all the operations at the Jungfraujoch did an excellent job. The staff everywhere were very friendly and everything was perfectly organised.
