Description
Take the underground funicular to Sunnegga, then transfer to the cable car to Blauherd. From there, you start the roughly 5-hour circular hike around the lakes Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee, and Leisee. Each mountain lake is unique in shape and colour. Leisee is a popular swimming spot.
You can see the Matterhorn reflected in three of the five lakes—assuming, of course, the mountain isn’t hidden by clouds and the water is calm. The stunning natural surroundings with towering peaks provide more great photo opportunities. In the afternoon, take the funicular back down to Zermatt.

Swiss Activity Tips
After your hike, you might arrive back in Zermatt feeling very hungry. Not far from the train station, you'll find the Rosstal restaurant, which opens daily at 4:00 PM. Spread over two floors, it can seat 50 guests who want to enjoy specialties from the Alpine region. The especially rustic atmosphere here will likely make you want to stay a bit longer.
