Description
This private hike takes you through the mountains around Zermatt. You’ll ride the cable car up to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, where you can enjoy views of peaks, glaciers, and the Matterhorn.
At the summit, visit the Glacier Palace with its ice tunnels and sculptures carved into the ice. Then, hike down from Trockener Steg to Schwarzsee. The mountain lake offers stunning views of the Matterhorn and its reflection in the water.
The route can be adjusted to your pace, needs, and skills. Along the way, learn more about the alpine environment, including glaciers, lakes, and prominent peaks.
Practical Information
- The meeting point can be at the hotel in Zermatt or at Zermatt train station. Arrange this with the provider after booking.
- Bring: lunch (packed or picnic), plenty of water (the altitude makes you thirsty!), sunscreen, and a sun hat.
- Warm, layered, windproof clothing is highly recommended—it can get chilly up top!
- Hiking poles are recommended (but not mandatory).
