About Murtensee

Lake Murten covers an area of 22.8 km². It is the smallest of the three major Jura lakes after Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Biel. It stretches across the cantons of Fribourg and Vaud and is renowned for its idyllic shores and picturesque landscapes. The lake is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts, especially sailors and windsurfers. Around the lake, there are numerous cycling and hiking trails. The historic town of Murten on the lakeside has a well-preserved old town and medieval fortifications. By the way, Lake Murten also features the longest natural sandy beach in Europe.
