Kathedrale St.Gallen
Об этом месте
St.Gallen Cathedral is both the parish church of the cathedral parish and the diocesan church of the Diocese of St.Gallen, founded in 1847. It stands where, in 612, the Irish wandering monk Gallus established a hermitage. The cathedral and the Baroque monastery complex were built in the middle of the 18th century. In 1805, the newly founded canton of St.Gallen dissolved the monastery and transferred the administration of the church property to the Katholischen Konfessionsteil. Together with the Stiftsbezirk, especially the Stiftsbibliothek and the Stiftsarchiv, the cathedral forms the core of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
