What does democracy weigh?
Об этом месте
Different stops in the museum lead you to pressing questions in the current debate on democracy. What do a radio, the wolf or the Alps have to do with democracy? Museum Luzern addresses democratic rights in society and nature through selected collection objects and puts them on the scales. Different stops in the museum lead you to pressing questions in the current debate on democracy. There is also the growing importance of nature and environmental protection, and the introduction of rights for animals and the environment. Do these new rights stand against your personal rights, your own happiness? There is rarely a clear «yes» or «no», but there is opinion-forming and lively debate – democracy, after all. The exhibition was developed as an upcycling project in collaboration with Happy Museums, an initiative that promotes sustainability in the museum sector. Elements from a previous exhibition by the development organisation Helvetas were rebuilt and reused. The upcycling project is supported by the Mercator Foundation Switzerland.
