Hans Trudel (1881-1958) came to Baden as a mechanical draughtsman and taught himself to become an artist. In the Lower Old Town stands his home, where exhibitions of contemporary art are now held. Numerous works by Trudel stand in public spaces - the bronze flieger (1927) on the station square. Throughout his life, Trudel struggled for art and recognition. This unusual double being, a human with grown wings, and the figure’s nudity also caused protests. Trudel did not receive the fee for this work until 1941.
