flimsfestival: Jezik Srca - Sprache des Herzens

O tym miejscu
This varied song programme was created by Swiss opera singer Jelena Dojčinović, driven by the wish to sing in her Bosnian Serbo-Croatian mother tongue. She is joined by Slovenian pianist Urška Strekelj, a partner with equally strong temperament and a feel for Balkan melody. Together, the two musicians travel through the classical literature of the South Slavic region, from little-known art songs to classical arrangements of familiar melodies such as Sevdalinke, Kolo, waltzes and polkas. The language of the heart is the one that comes most naturally to you; the one in which the soul resonates from the very first second. At the same time, it is the language of reconciliation rather than enmity, one that emphasises common ground and celebrates differences instead of dividing. Ultimately, love, longing, youth and transience, sorrow and joy are themes that touch everyone. This programme therefore has a very individual and at the same time universal meaning, and delights everyone who is open to new discoveries.
