Tentang lokasi ini
They are masters of flight, have extraordinary hearing, can find their way in complete darkness and hunt their prey in flight – yet they usually remain invisible: bats live among us, and yet we know little about them. On Tuesday, 1 September, at 19:00 in the Sonnensaal Altstätten and on Wednesday, 2 September, at 19:00 in the Singsaal of the OZ Grof Buchs, Pro Riet invites you to the talk « Heimliche Königinnen der Nacht » and opens a window onto this hidden and fascinating world. The speaker, Dr Katja Schönbächler, bat expert, curator and veterinarian at Natur- und Tierpark Goldau, takes participants into the life of these delicate aerial acrobats. With striking images and stories, she shows how bats live, hunt and why they are indispensable to our ecosystem. At the same time, visitors learn what each individual can do to help protect them. Because only what you know can you protect. The talk is aimed at people interested in nature, animal lovers and anyone who wants to learn more about the fascinating world of bats. Admission is free. The event is organised by the association Pro Riet Rheintal in collaboration with the city of Altstätten, the city of Buchs and the Natur- und Vogelschutzverein Buchs-Werdenberg. The talk is part of the project by Pro Riet and the Schweizerische Vogelwarte Sempach to promote biodiversity in the settlement area of the Rhine Valley, supported by the Amt für Natur, Jagd und Fischerei of the canton of St. Gallen, the Fonds Landschaft Schweiz and GRAVAG Energie AG.
