Tentang lokasi ini
The current archaeological investigations adjoin areas already excavated in 2007–2009 and 2025. They are located in the historic village centre of Eschenz, near the Vitus Church demolished in 1738 and the adjoining cemetery. Beneath them lie the remains of a small Roman town, the vicus Tasgetium. The excavation area lies along a road running parallel to the shore, with houses on both sides. The settlement emerged shortly after the conquest of the Lake Constance region in 15 BC, by a bridge over the Rhine. In Eschenz, the very good preservation of the wood is particularly striking. The event is not wheelchair accessible. Access to the excavation from the Insel Werd car park.
