Parco di Villa dei Cedri
Tentang tempat ini
Villa dei Cedri (German: Zedern) owes its name to the majestic conifers that once shaded the entrance gate and now grow within the public park. To the west of the Villa, various footpaths lead you through the impressive ornamental vegetation, made up mainly of centuries-old trees (holm oaks, magnolias, beeches, ash trees, oaks, palms) and conifers (cedars, cypresses, Douglas firs, redwoods). To the east of the Villa, farming is still practised. Most of the area today is used for viticulture to produce the official wine of the city of Bellinzona. In the south of the park, a formal garden in the «Italian style» was created in the 1930s, with flower beds and a central fountain.
