The paths wind through splendid flowerbeds, lined with statues and fountains, and framed by meticulously maintained English lawn. The park is split into two areas. You reach the first area around Villa Ciani via the main entrance at the end of the lakeside promenade. This area has features of both an Italian garden and an English garden: lush flowerbeds alternate with green spaces and trees and shrubs from all over the world. The second area stretches from the landing stage to the Cassarate river and has a wilder, more natural character. Here you find oaks, lime trees, plane trees and maples, all typical of Ticino forests. Within this wooded area is the children’s playground, with numerous play options for children of all ages. Parco Ciani also contains various buildings: Villa Ciani, the Kongresshaus, the landing stage, the Naturhistorische Museum and the Kantonsbibliothek.
