Serej, known from the Bernese rap formation Chlyklass, starts a new musical chapter with Los Serej. Together with the internationally active bassist Jürg Schmidhauser and the drummer and lyricist Andreas Knecht, he forms a trio that moves stylistically between singer-songwriter craft, rap, jazz and modern pop – poetic, personal and distinctive. Here, Serej appears not only as lyricist and singer, but also at the piano. In their dialect lyrics, his power of observation and fine irony sometimes recall Mani Matter – without losing the rapper’s rough charm. The musical backing from Schmidhauser and Knecht gives the whole thing depth, dynamism and substance. Los Serej impresses with authentic songwriting, musical maturity and a clear identity – beyond stylistic boxes. Their concerts move between groove and poetry, everyday closeness and musical freedom.
