Sobre este lugar

The occasion for this art exhibition is the donation of the artist’s extensive estate to the Stiftung Museum Burghalde in 2019. In recent years, the rich collection of letters, paintings and other archival material has been researched scientifically. The publication of the multi-year, meticulous research on the painter, written by Samuel E. Lynn, is finally appearing in book form and presents the life and work of the Lenzburg artist. Raised in Lenzburg, artistically trained in Bergamo and valued internationally, she is denied major success despite excellent works, reviews and exhibition participation: she exhibits several times in Bergamo, in Milan, at the Münchner Glaspalast and at the Turnus exhibition in various Swiss cities. «In England, wo sie in kurzer Zeit die Porträts von Mr. und Mrs. Bruce, Lady Colthurst und auch das Porträt von Miss Augusta Ruby Spencer–Churchill, der Enkelin des 6. Herzogs von Marlborough, malte; letzteres Werk, von bemerkenswerter Qualität, ...», writes a contemporary review. The more privileged circles around the artists Enrico Scuri (1806–1884) and Cesare Tallone (1853–1919), as well as contacts of the aristocracy she portrayed, also do not bring the desired success. She dies in 1929 in Bergamo. For the first time after her death, Clara Alwina Müller receives a comprehensive tribute here. The art exhibition opens as part of the thematic focus «Pionierinnen, Künstlerinnen, Denkerinnen – 200 Jahre Lenzburger Frauenpower».
