Special exhibition: Unknown and unexplored

Sobre este lugar

In 2023/24, under the motto ‘Collect, take part, exhibit’, local people were invited to make Kreuzlingen objects available for the ‘Stadtlabor’ exhibition. By adding our own objects, we made a broad range of themes and the diversity of the collection visible. At the same time, the project showed how much remains little explored, or unexplored altogether. With our ‘new stories from the Stadtlabor’, we are now going a step further: we show impressive, moving and enigmatic objects from the depot, as well as new acquisitions that awaken the spirit of research — ours and, in the sense of ‘Citizen Science’, that of local people too. What is the story behind the suitcase sent from Kreuzlingen to Lübeck in 1951 and rediscovered in 2023? Are the photographs preserved inside evidence of a story of flight between Lake Constance and the Baltic Sea? Which trail leads from Venice to the high altar of the church of St. Stephan in Emmishofen? And we marvel at how a Kreuzlingen physics teacher wanted to explain the world to children.
