Nozon Gorge

Cascada

Sobre este lugar

Not far from the medieval town of Romainmôtier, south-west of Yverdon-les-Bains, the river Le Nozon flows into a unique gorge: the «Gorges de Nozon». After a steep and partly slippery descent, you come to a spectacular natural sight: the waterfalls «Cascade du Dard». Depending on the water level, the water rushes calmly or turbulently over the 20-metre-high rock face down into the gorge that begins here. An enchanting, unspoilt place to linger. With a bit of luck, you may spot the rare kingfisher here. If you want to go further, walk sometimes along the left bank and sometimes along the right bank of the Nozon, passing rapids and small streams flowing over moss-covered stones. The nearly three-hour hike passes the popular waterfall «Tine de Conflens» and ends in the village of La Sarraz, known for its castle built on a rocky outcrop. Getting there: by public transport or car to Croy-Romainmôntier. From there, continue on foot to the gorge.
