About this place

The Grosser St. Bernhard Pass at a glance The Grosser St. Bernhard Pass has linked Valais with Italy's Aosta Valley since Roman times. At 2469 metres stands the hospice, founded around 1050 by Augustinian canons. From the 17th century onwards, the monks bred St Bernard dogs here. The pass road is open from June to October.
