Luzia Hürzeler & Guests – What appears as nature

Exhibition

About this place

The Solothurn artist Luzia Hürzeler (*1976) has long focused on how animals are represented and on the cultural ideas people develop about them. In her photographs, videos and installations, Luzia Hürzeler critically questions how animals are staged in natural history museums, zoological gardens or in art, and what meanings are assigned to them. The exhibition invites you to trace the making of «images of nature» and to explore alternative perspectives. At Kunstmuseum Solothurn, founded in 1902 as the «Museum der Kunst und Wissenschaft», wolves, birds or gorillas once again count among the protagonists for a change. Other artistic positions are woven into the show, shedding light on human-animal-nature relationships from different angles. In collaboration with Naturmuseum Solothurn.
