Museum zur Farb Stäfa
About this place
As a house of history and stories, this newly redesigned museum invites you to step into the everyday life of past centuries. Using the events surrounding the so-called «Stäfner Handel» of 1794/95, the museum shows in an engaging way how, at that time, people in Stäfa fought for democracy and equality between town and country. Alongside this event, so important to the shaping of the modern canton of Zurich, the Haus zur Farb and its complex and unusual building history are also newly highlighted. As a special treasure, the museum presents its Fatschenkind collection to the public. Alongside the permanent exhibition, the museum regularly presents engaging temporary exhibitions, mostly on historical themes. Art exhibitions, readings and other events also take place in the building. A visit to the museum can easily be combined with a hike along the vineyards, which offers wonderful views of the lake and the nearby Alps.
