Appenzell
Appenzell is the capital of the canton Appenzell Innerrhoden. The traditional village is the tourist center of the Appenzellerland. Popular destinations from Appenzell are the Wildkirchli cave, the world famous mountain restaurant Äscher, the Ebenalp and the crystal clear Seealpsee. You can reach the Äscher from the Ebenalp mountain station in about 15 minutes on foot. Appenzell is popular as a starting point for hikes to explore the Alpstein region from the north. Agriculture, animal husbandry, yodeling, peasant painting and other handicrafts are typical of the village and its surroundings. Colorfully painted wooden houses make for a distinctive village image. “Excellent and well worth a visit”
“It was a fabulous day starting with a boat trip up the lake to Vitznau, then stepping onto the train up to Rigi Kaltbad. The mineral baths were totally relaxing, from the bubble pools to the stunning outdoor views, plus the herbal steam room, mineral pool tranquility and sauna. A truly sensational day.”
