Lachner Chilbi

The Lachner Chilbi looks back on a tradition stretching back several hundred years. Since 1711, the day of the church consecration and the annual church festival that follows, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, have been linked to a fair. On the occasion of the completion of the renovation of the parish church in 1883, the people of Lachen decided to hold a large festival. The church consecration festival then fell on 2 September 1883. Since then, the Lachner Chilbi has always taken place on the first weekend in September on the squares by the lake, together with the associated goods market in the lanes in the village centre of Lachen.
