Kunsthaus Glarus offers a platform for presenting Swiss and international contemporary art, as well as the Glarner Kunstvereins collection holdings and regional artistic practice. Since the mid-1990s, Kunsthaus Glarus has made a name for itself in the Swiss museum landscape and the international art scene with sharp positions in contemporary art, and despite its peripheral location it has become one of the centres of Swiss contemporary art. Kunsthaus Glarus focuses on the work of artists, especially a younger generation, who have never, or hardly ever, been shown in institutional contexts in Switzerland. It thus fulfils an important role at the interface between smaller exhibition spaces and larger institutions, and supports the careers of still little-tested artistic positions and their combinations.
