About this place

Prints and watercolours show views of the village between 1750 and 1900, when the whey cure flourished in Gais. Many of the more than one hundred works served to illustrate travel accounts and history books. Larger-format works were mainly sold to spa guests. Today, they bear eloquent witness to the village’s development. Special exhibitions cover a wide range of topics with a connection to Gais. Open Sundays only. Admission is free. Guided tours for groups on request. You can find all museums in Appenzellerland at: www.museen-im-appenzellerland.ch
