About this place

How can classical music and club culture be brought together across generations? Formats such as the Berlin-based «Yellow Lounge» or «TonhalleLATE» in Zürich have shown how classical live acts and club atmosphere can open up new spaces for music. Now the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra is developing this idea further in Lucerne – not in the traditional setting of KKL Luzern, but in the cultural biotope of Neubad Luzern. Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is being performed too, a work that also challenged conventions. The so-called Fate Symphony insists vigorously on freedom and paves the way to an uncertain future with triumphant fanfares. The performance itself also recalls Beethoven’s scepticism towards authority: the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra plays without a conductor under the leadership of concertmaster Gregory Ahss. After the symphonic force in the former swimming pool, the evening continues in the club of the cultural centre. «Beethoven (on the) Rocks» becomes a clubnight at Neubad – and a concert evening as Lucerne has never experienced it before. Concert & party The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra brings its sound world to Neubad Luzern – and combines symphonic force with club culture. After Beethoven’s Fifth in the former swimming pool, the evening continues in the club.
