On Fridays and Saturdays, you can experience night sledding at Niederhorn over a 3 km sledding slope illuminated by lanterns.
From Interlaken West, you take the post bus (line 101) at 5:05 PM to Beatenberg to the valley station of the Niederhornbahn. There, you take the mountain railway and ride via the medium station Vorsass up to the summit of Niederhorn.
You will get the sled at the mountain station Niederhorn. A headlamp and ski helmet are recommended. Headlamps can be purchased at the Niederhornbahn stations. You can rent a ski helmet in sports shops in Interlaken.
As long as the mountain railway is running, you can continuously go up and sled down again.
Dinner: Cheese Fondue (optional): Optional, before sledding, you can enjoy a cheese fondue including mulled wine served in the Berghaus Niederhorn. This meal can be selected when booking.
With your rented sled, you will ride at night over illuminated paths from the mountain station (from the illuminated sign Niederhorn) to the medium station Vorsass. The descent takes about half an hour. You will descend 370 meters in elevation.
At the end, you return the rented sled and take the post bus back to Interlaken.
Practical Information:
The Niederhorn, reaching 1963 m above sea level as the southernmost peak of the Güggisgrat, offers a wonderful view of Lake Thun. Take a few minutes before the sledding run to enjoy the evening view. You can see the lake with lights all around and the Bernese Alps in the background.

1. The confirmation stated the meeting point as Interlaken West Bahnhofstrasse 28 at 17:05 with a 15-minute early arrival. However, no one was there when we arrived, and after waiting without anyone showing up, we contacted Niederhornbahn by phone and decided to travel there ourselves. The slope is not suitable for night tobogganing with inexperienced people and small children as it was very dangerous with icy sections. The return connections for night tobogganing are poor, only every 60 minutes. We could only take the ride once and since the kids were scared, we waited 45 minutes for the bus in the evening. The disappointment and poor organization make me not recommend this to others with small children. At first, they did not even want to let the 4- and 9-year-olds go with us. Letting a small child ride alone would not have ended well. I am very disappointed.
