Burgdorf
Burgdorf is a small town in the Emmental region of the canton of Bern and is known as the gateway to the area. The townscape is dominated by Burgdorf Castle, which sits on elevated ground, the town church, and the well-preserved old town featuring an upper and lower district. Along the Emme River, you'll find bridges, riverside paths, and former industrial zones that recall the area's industrial past. In the alleys of the upper town, you can explore arcades, historic façades, and squares with views overlooking the town and surrounding countryside. Just a short distance from the compact town center, you reach the rolling hills of the Emmental, dotted with fields, forests, and scattered farms.
