Aarau

Aarau is the capital of the canton of Aargau and is located in the south of the Jura Park Aargau directly on the Aare river. On the edge of the old town stands the Schlössli from the 13th century. The old town is famous for late Gothic rows of houses and Baroque gabled houses with 70 painted gables. The 17th century Justice Fountain stands directly in front of the town church. The Aargauer Naturama displays mammoths, taxidermied and live animals. On the western edge of town is the Schachen quarter with a horse racing track, swimming pool and athletics facilities.

“For me, it was a very good guided tour, even though, as a long-time resident of Einsiedeln (Matura 1964), I already knew quite a lot. On today's visit, I brought along a young man from the neighbourhood who had never been to Einsiedeln before. It was an interesting experience for both of us.”
