The municipality of Simplon consists of several villages. Simplon village is located on the south side of the Simplon pass at 1476 m above sea level. The village has an authentic village center, which reminds with its buildings of Italy. Simplon is even classified as a place of national importance. The Simplon Pass leads through the narrow Gondo Gorge and was already used in the Stone Age. Today, some sections of the Gondo Gorge are lined with granite walls. Along the pass a unique view awaits the visitors. Here the Valais Alps merge with the Italian surroundings. Simplon and its surroundings is a true paradise for biking, hiking and skiing enthusiasts. Snowkiters will find ideal conditions at the pass.

“5 stars for the mountain views, lucky with the weather and to be seated on the revolving part of the restaurant. Most of the cable staff were confused with this app/ticket, only one out of six knew to scan the QR code with a different app, the rest let us through the barrier with a couple of them saying we should have had a paper or different sort of ticket. No extra cost etc. but be warned. Waitress in the restaurant didn't recognise the ticket either so had to check with a manager but all good in the end. Meat and cheese board for 2 people as expected - four different ones of each, a couple of pieces of cheese, four slices of each meat.”
