Pazzallo

Pazzallo is a district of the city of Lugano and lies 426 m above sea level on the northern slope of Monte San Salvatore ( 912 m above sea level). The funicular goes up the mountain in a few minutes from Pazzallo. The panorama shows from Lugano over Campione d'Italia to Melide. Next to a chapel there is a former 17th century pilgrims' house for the poor and walkers on the pilgrimage to the Church of the Redeemer. On Monte San Salvatore there is a popular via ferrata, several hiking trails and an easy nature trail with stages for treasure hunting. A museum displays rocks and fossils from the mountain. Pazzallo itself also offers a magnificent view of Lugano and of the Valais Alps up to Monte Rosa. About 1500 people live in Pazzallo. Lake Lugano can be reached by bicycle from Pazzallo in a few minutes. In addition, the district is about 25 minutes by car from the Italian border
