Maienfeld

Maienfeld is a village situated at 504 m above sea level in Heidiland. It is surrounded by vineyards and lies at the foot of the mountain Falknis, which reaches 2560 m above sea level. In Maienfeld there is the Heidi village, which preserves the history and the tradition of the Heidi myth. The Heidi stories were set here and the houses in the Heidi village are furnished as they were in 1880. As an important part of the Graubünden dominion and the local winegrowing, Maienfeld is very often visited by international guests. Also worth seeing are the old town with the old town wall, the Amandus church and the castles Salenegg and Brandis. The oak forest above the settlement of Bovel is a natural monument.

“The lammergeier and golden eagle tour with Swiss Ranger K. Walser was an amazing experience! He is very knowledgeable, knows the region and its animals perfectly, and shares his knowledge in an engaging and easy-to-understand way. Absolutely recommend it! We saw golden eagles and lammergeiers along the ridge near Seezberg and watched chamois with kids grazing below. In the forest beside us, red deer were roaring as evening fell ❤️”
