Laufenburg is located on the High Rhine on the border with Germany. Events are often held together with the German sister city. The well-preserved old town is terraced and has a city wall and towers. The medieval alleys of the old town nestle against the castle hill. The ruins of Laufenburg Castle stand on the hill and still show the keep. The Jurapark Aargau, located south of the city, can be reached quickly from Laufenburg. It is popular for extended bike tours or hikes.
