Andelfingen ZH

Andelfingen ZH lies south of the River Thur between Winterthur and Schaffhausen. The area is very idyllically situated in the Zurich wine country. The municipality of Kleinandelfingen lies to the north of the Thur. The historic center of Andelfingen still has many watermills and is therefore also known as the mill village. Andelfingen ZH and Kleinandelfingen are connected by a covered wooden bridge over the Thur. This bridge, which is well worth seeing, also bears witness to the long history of settlement here. In its long history, Andelfingen was a bridge and customs village and had a regional center function.

“The castle was much bigger inside than expected, with amazing history and stunning artefacts. It was a great time of year to visit, not too crowded, and the whole experience was interesting. Walking where people walked hundreds of years ago felt humbling.”
