In 1684, Tobias Holländer bought the «Hof zu Hova» and built his noble residence there, the famous Holländerhaus. Next to the house stands the barracks, where he housed his personal guard in keeping with his status. Tobias Holländer was the most influential man of his time on the city council of Schaffhausen.
