Om dette sted

New temporary exhibition: ‘Aviation Pioneers in the Three-Lake Region’. The area around Murten was one of the true birthplaces of Swiss aviation in the 1910s. Figures such as Ernest Failloubaz, ‘the flying kid’, René Grandjean, Charles Favre and Georges Cailler shaped this era with courage, technical skill and a great pioneering spirit. Particular mention must be made of René Grandjean, who was the first to design an aircraft that could be fitted with skis, wheels and floats. These aircraft were built using the simplest of means, yet were ingenious, thanks to local support from blacksmiths and wheelwrights.
