Horse first aid course, the original since 1992 - continuously developed, basic knowledge of veterinary medicine for laypeople, what to do until the vet arrives, prevention is better than cure. Content: extended brevet knowledge! · Horse anatomy · The most important names, terms and functions of the horse’s body in connection with injuries · The most important names, terms and functions of the horse’s body in connection with acute illnesses · what to do until the vet arrives, what the horse first-aider can do themselves in case of illnesses and emergencies · First aid and measures for injuries · First aid and measures for acute illnesses · Practise bandaging in practice · Vaccination/deworming · Information about the large animal rescue service GTRD and further useful information Prerequisite: interest in the topic Learning objectives: The participant recognises illnesses and injuries in horses and acts appropriately to the situation. The participant independently names ten anatomical terms on a horse, without aids, correctly. The participant memorises the five most important illnesses and injuries (according to the course materials) and explains preventive and healing measures. The participant assesses an illness or injury correctly without aids, alerts the vet appropriately to the situation, names the PAT values if necessary, and describes the illness or injury correctly. The participant independently and correctly determines the PAT values on each equid and names the normal values. The participant independently applies a correct cannon and hoof bandage on each equid. Target group: laypeople in equine medicine who deal with horses. Leisure riders, professional riders, carriage drivers, horse owners, breeders, sportspeople, event organisers, stable operators, prospective apprentices (e.g. TPA), emergency services (e.g. fire brigades), etc., and those who want to become one, from 12 years old Note: this course is a prerequisite for the training of horse first-aiders The proEqui horse first aid course is also the “Pferdegesundheit” module of the “fachlichen berufsunabhängigen Ausbildung für Pferdehalter” (FBA) by proEqui, which is also recognised by the FVO.
