Description

In Grindelwald there are countless options for sledding. If you want to enjoy winter sports without having to learn complicated techniques, you can quickly get started with tobogganing. There are a few things to keep in mind, but if you start slowly, you will feel comfortable on the sled within a short time. And if you need a break, you will always find a place to stop along the way.

At Graf Sport in Grindelwald you can rent the famous Davos wooden sledges. A day rental lasts 24 hours and gives you the possibility to split the snow fun. Maybe you want to start in the afternoon and do a few more rounds the next morning. With the Jungfrau Region Hiking and Sledging Pass you can use all mountain railroads, public transport and ski buses in Grindelwald without limits. You can determine the validity period between 1 and 7 days yourself.

For beginners or families, the toboggan run from Männlichen to Holenstein middle station is ideal. This varied route offers numerous curves, some safe steep passages and beautiful gliding sections. After one hour you reach the middle station and can take the train down to the valley or if there is enough snow, you can go down by toboggan.

Especially suitable for families is the 4.5 kilometer long toboggan run Family Run. The start is on the Bussalp. In between there is a short walk, because the route goes sometimes uphill, sometimes downhill. The descent from Rasthysi to the end point Lochsteinen is faster. If you choose this option with children, you should also include a little time in the family snow park Bussalp.

The classic among the toboggan runs in Grindelwald is the City Run. From the sunny plateau of Bussalp, the approximately 30-minute run goes along the access road into the valley. This toboggan run can easily be done several times in a row, because the yellow buses go up regularly. Families with children will also get their money's worth here.

For experienced sledders and active people we can recommend the longest toboggan run in Europe called "Big Pintenfritz". From Faulhorn to Grindelwald it is about 12.5 kilometers of sledding fun. However, you have to do something for it. To get to the 2,680 meter high Faulhorn, you walk from the First mountain station for about 2 hours on the winter hiking trail. If you don't feel like a winter walk, you can find one of the other toboggan runs from the Frist. If you belong to the adrenaline junkies, the spectacular Eiger Run is a must. With a gradient of up to 36 percent, this sledding trail is not for the faint of heart. Take the Wengernalpbahn to the start at Alpiglen. The run is only 3.5 kilometers long but there are about 15 minutes of fast-paced fun between the start and end points! Even more exciting is the Eiger Run at night. You can buy an Eiger Run evening ticket and ride up and down as often as you like.

In the tobogganing paradise of Grindelwald, everyone can have fun. Snow fun is guaranteed here and the fantastic mountain panorama of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau offers the perfect setting for it.

Duration One day rental lasts 24 hours
