Description

This eventful day starts with a guided bus ride from the meeting point in Zurich to Weggis. You will cross the Albis Pass and have the opportunity to view one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland, Lake Lucerne

Along the lakeshore, the trail leads to the small town of Weggis, located directly on the lake. Once there, the exciting ascent towards the summit already begins: you will float in the cable car from Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad 2.3 km through a magical alpine landscape and you will be able to catch the beautiful view of the Swiss mountains. In the cozy Rigi Kaltbad you touch the ground again

A historical highlight awaits you here, as you transfer to the "Rigibahn" for the next stage. Europe's first mountain railroad was opened in 1871 and since then has been transporting visitors leisurely up to the summit of the Rigi in its nostalgic carriages. Even on the journey, the fairytale splendor of the surrounding Alps, lakes and valleys becomes apparent.

Arriving at the terminus at Rigi Kulm, a short walk leads to the summit of the Queen of the Mountains. At 1797 m.a.s.l., the majestic view of 13 deep blue lakes and 620 snow-covered peaks of the imposing Swiss Alpine region presents itself

Even Mark Twain, Goethe or Tolstoy enjoyed the same panorama in their time A walk through the magnificent nature of the summit region, which is crisscrossed by countless hiking trails and unique alpine flora, is especially worthwhile! In winter time it is even possible to rent a sledge and explore the winter wonderland with it.

After these unforgettable impressions, a proper meal in one of the warm restaurants is waiting for you. Enjoy once again the atmosphere and the view from the top of the queen of the mountains

After this impressive high-altitude experience, the cogwheel railroad will take you back to the valley in the afternoon, directly to Vitznau. The small but beautiful community is located directly on the shores of Lake Lucerne and is therefore the perfect starting point for the following boat trip

Here you change to one of the scheduled boats that travel across the azure Lake Lucerne to Lucerne. Enjoy the tranquility and the peaceful lapping of the lake during the trip before you leave the ship in Lucerne and head for the old town of Lucerne.

The beautiful old town of Lucerne offers a wealth of sights in addition to winding alleys and secluded squares

The Chapel Bridge with its water tower and famous paintings is the oldest wooden bridge in Europe and towers majestically over the Reuss River. 111 paintings depict scenes from Swiss history and are intended to remind people to lead a prudent life

The Jesuit Church is also one of the most popular destinations in the old town. It is considered the first large baroque church in Switzerland and impresses with one of the most imposing endowments of artistic and architectural details

In the immediate vicinity you will also find the renaissance town hall, various good restaurants and plenty of shopping opportunities. Art lovers are also recommended to visit the Rosengart Collection, which can be found between the Jesuit Church and the main train station

The museum shows works of world-famous artists such as Picasso, Paul Klee or Miró in a very personal setting.

In the late afternoon the tour guide will be waiting for you at the meeting point to start the return journey to Zurich. In the comfortable bus you can review the many different impressions of this eventful day and enjoy the view one last time.
