On one leg of the Grand Tour of Switzerland, you will travel by comfortable coach from Zurich to beautiful northern Switzerland. During the trip, the multilingual guide will tell you about Swiss history and culture while the bus passes a beautiful wine-growing area with charming farming villages.
Not far from the German border is one of Switzerland's most famous tourist attractions, the Rhine Falls. Here, an average of 700,000 liters of water per second thunder into the 150-wide basin. High above the Rhine Falls, the medieval castle of Laufen has been enthroned for over 1000 years.
In the inner courtyard of the castle is the glass elevator that takes you down to the Rhine Falls. The panorama path Belvedere leads you to the waterfall and from the viewing platform "Känzeli" you are directly at the roaring and foaming water. If you want to get even closer, you can feel the spray of the water on an optional boat trip (only in summer).
To learn more about the natural spectacle, you can visit the Historama in Schloss Laufen. On two floors in the north wing of the castle, the historical significance of the place and the influence of the Rhine Falls on nature, society, but also on prominent visitors is explained.
On the way back, the tour passes Schaffhausen with its 16th century Munot fortress. Then follows a short drive through Germany (don't forget your passport or ID card!) to the disembarkation points Zurich Airport and Zurich Bus Station Sihlquai.
Duration 3 ¾ hours
The boat trip at the Rhine Falls is only possible in summer and not included in the price (CHF 10 per adult, CHF 5 per child)
The return trip from the Rhine Falls to Zurich is via Germany. Passport required!
