Learn the basics you need for high altitude tours and glacier hikes in this course. An experienced mountain guide will show you how to use an ice axe, rope and crampons in the alpine mountains. On the second day you can even apply what you have learned on the ascent of the 4000m Breithorn.
**2 unforgettable and instructive days await you where you will receive a professional introduction and training for the mountain tours and can apply your knowledge directly on the ascent!
Meeting point: Homebase Zermatt. On the first day you will meet at the Homebase Zermatt with your group (in case of a group booking) or only with your mountain guide. You check your equipment and get to know each other.
You drive: to the training location. From Zermatt, you all drive together uphill to Trockener Steg and tackle a short climb to the Gandegg Hut.
You attend: the high altitude touring basic course. Here, on the lower Theodul glacier, your basic course begins. You learn how to behave on a high altitude tour and how to handle the equipment correctly.
You eat: a 3-course menu in the evening. In the Gandegg hut (for group bookings) a delicious and fortifying dinner will be prepared for you and your group
You stay overnight: Gandegg hut (on request) or in the village. You will spend the night in the hut
Tour to the Breithorn at 4164 m.a.s.l. In the morning of the second course day, after a short walk to Trockener Steg, you set off by train to the Klein Matterhorn station. From there you start the ascent to the Breithorn (4164 m), where you can put all your knowledge directly into practice. Enjoy the alpine landscape and the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain peaks. Duration: approx. 3-4 hours
Return journey: Homebase Zermatt. After the descent from the Breithorn, you make your way home and can look back on this great weekend.

With a private mountain guide, this tour is available daily and can even be booked from May instead of June 1st. With a maximum of 3 people you enjoy the best supervision in this private basic course!
