Key facts
The river Ticino has its source at the Nufenen Pass in the Swiss canton of Ticino. It flows through the beautiful Leventina Valley, surrounded by impressive Alpine panoramas and picturesque villages. The Ticino offers numerous leisure opportunities in the midst of unspoiled nature. It carries crystal-clear water and flows through the city of Bellinzona, among others. The city is known for its medieval castles and historic old town. It then flows through the fertile Magadino plain until it flows into Lake Maggiore. On the Italian side, it continues to flow through the Po Valley.
