Paragliding in Interlaken offers many beautiful tours for paragliding. Due to its unique location in the middle of the Swiss Alps, it is considered the Mecca for paragliding in Switzerland. Interlaken lies in a long valley between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Due to the unique flying conditions here all year round, there are only a few days on most flight routes on which flying is not possible due to bad weather. For foreign tourists, this region is THE place to gain their first experience of paragliding tandem flights. The area around Interlaken is famous for the exceptional view of the Jungfrau massif.

But not only the area around Interlaken is known for paragliding. There are also numerous jumps in the valleys of the Bernese Oberland, which offer a unique experience. We have put together the 5 most popular jumps for paragliding, all of which can be booked as paragliding tandem flights.

Paragliding First, Grindelwald

The First gondola lift takes you up from Grindelwald in three sections. The journey takes about 25 minutes. At the top of First, a flattened ridge awaits you. Here, on the sunny side, lies the take-off point for paragliding Grindelwald/First at 2,150 metres altitude. The panorama shows several four-thousand-metre peaks, including the Grosse Scheideg, the Wetterhorn, the Schreckhorn up to the Eiger north face and the Kleine Scheideg. Several mountain bike tours start on the ridge. Another attraction is the First Flyer, with which you glide 800 metres through the air on a rope to the middle station, reaching a speed of 84 km/h. The actual flying time is 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the thermals. In total you should plan about 1.5 hours from Grindelwald First valley station.

Paragliding Schiltgrat, Mürren – Fly through the Lauterbrunnen Valley

Paragliding in Lauterbrunnen is a special experience. During this flight you fly past waterfalls and steep walls: a unique feeling. From Mürren you take a chairlift up to the Schiltgrat, where a flat take-off area awaits you. It lies at an altitude of 2,150 metres. The flight takes you from the Schiltgrat over the Lauterbrunnen Valley to Stechelberg, where after a twenty-minute flight you will find the landing site at the valley station of the Schilthorn gondola. During the flight, about 1,200 metres in altitude are overcome and on the way an impressive rock face is passed. All in all you will need about 1.5 hours. In the summer, take off from Mürren (1,630 metres altitude).

Paragliding Niederhorn, Beatenberg

The early morning hours are particularly suitable for paragliding on the Niederhorn due to the special atmosphere in the morning sun. The Niederhorn is situated above Beatenberg and is its local mountain. You reach the mountain via a group orbit at an altitude of around 2,000 metres. Besides a wonderful view of the Bernese Alps, Lake Brienz and Lake Thun below the mountains, the Niederhorn offers many popular hiking trails. The starting point from Niederhorn is at an altitude of 1,950 metres. The flight takes 20 to 30 minutes over the woods down to Interlaken. In the process, 1,400 metres in altitude are overcome. The total time required is around 2.5 hours.

Paragliding Amisbühl, Beatenberg – the classic

Even before your flight from Beatenberg, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountains. The Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau can be seen from the take-off point just as wonderfully as Lake Thun and a little to the west of Lake Brienz below the mountain. The launch site is located at 1,350 metres above sea level below the southern slope of the Niederhorn near Amisbühl. You run a few steps on the slightly sloping terrain and you’re already floating along. The pure flying time varies between twelve and twenty minutes, depending on the thermals. During your flight you will overcome a difference in altitude of about 800 metres. You should allow a total of about 1.5 hours for the flight.

Paragliding Schynige Platte – evening flight

The romantic paragliding flight in the Bernese Oberland. The evening hours before sunset are particularly suitable for paragliding Schynige Platte. Schynige Platte paragliding flights are not possible all year round, they are carried out from May to October. The Alpine panorama from here is uniquely beautiful.
